Responsibilities
- Manage the physical Metal environment from bare metal through Kubernetes.
- Manage cluster networking components including load balancing, NAT, DNS, CNIs, cross-cluster communication, routing protocols, and architecture.
- Manage scheduling and autoscaling.
- Maintain Crossplane compositions and Terraform modules for common cloud-provider resources.
- Manage versioning and compatibility for Crossplane, Terraform Core, and providers.
- Work with Grafana Cloud application teams to understand their needs and prioritize platform capabilities.
- Own the full lifecycle of platform code, including design documentation, developer feedback, integration testing, and operations.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
Requirements
- Experience with Go, Python, and/or Shell.
- Experience operating code and working across development and operations.
- Datacenter experience.
- Comfort working with distributed systems in a remote-first environment.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.
- Ability to collaborate with engineers and management structures in a consensus-oriented environment.
- Experience with Cluster-API, Tinkerbell, Talos, or Ceph is a bonus.
- Experience with AWS, GCP, and/or Azure and their managed Kubernetes services is a bonus.
- Experience operating and managing workloads on Kubernetes is a bonus.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes scheduling and Karpenter is a bonus.
- Terraform and/or Crossplane experience is a bonus.
- Experience with open-source or community-based projects is a bonus.
