Responsibilities
- Architect and build fast, clean, and highly available backend systems in Python and FastAPI.
- Own architecture and major design decisions for backend services.
- Build and maintain the MCP gateway connecting AI tools with Clarivate products.
- Deploy, operate, and troubleshoot services on AWS.
- Use AI tools such as copilots, agents, and LLM-based tooling in the development workflow.
- Review code, provide feedback, write tests, and maintain documentation.
- Turn ambiguous problems into solutions with limited specification.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of backend Python or full-stack software engineering experience.
- Strong experience with FastAPI.
- Experience with cloud services, preferably AWS.
- Hands-on SQL and relational database experience, including Postgres, MySQL, or similar systems.
- Experience architecting scalable data models and designing complex database schemas.
- Preferred experience building or using MCP clients and servers.
- Preferred experience implementing RBAC, authentication, or authorization flows in production systems.
- Preferred experience with API gateway patterns such as rate limiting, request routing, and service-to-service authentication.
