Responsibilities
- Design and own the technical architecture of The SOURCE® and evolve it from an internal system into a scalable platform.
- Translate creative, brand, agency, and operational workflows into scalable systems and internal tools.
- Build full-stack product capabilities, dashboards, admin tools, authentication, permissions, and role-based access.
- Integrate third-party tools and APIs and design asynchronous approval, handoff, notification, and automation workflows.
- Apply AI and LLM capabilities, vector databases, and workflow guardrails where they provide practical value.
- Establish technical standards, documentation, and reusable patterns while making build-versus-buy-versus-automate decisions.
- Partner with the founder on product vision, sequencing, scope, and technical direction.
- Lay the groundwork for future engineering hires and contributors and own outcomes beyond code delivery.
- Ship an initial version quickly, iterate with live users, and make pragmatic tradeoffs.
Requirements
- 6–12+ years of experience in engineering, product, or technical architecture roles.
- Experience building platforms or internal systems from zero to v1 or beyond.
- Production-grade full-stack web development using React/Next.js or an equivalent modern framework and Node.js/Python, with FastAPI preferred.
- Understanding of REST and basic GraphQL, authentication, permissions, role-based access, and production data edge cases.
- Experience designing relational or hybrid schemas using Postgres and JSON.
- Experience integrating APIs and tools such as Stripe, Jira, Webflow, CMSs, and CRMs.
- Experience with workflow automation tools such as Zapier, Make, n8n, or Temporal and with asynchronous workflows.
- Practical AI/LLM experience including prompt engineering, embedding LLMs into workflows, vector databases, and guardrails for brand consistency.
- Strong product intuition, systems thinking, pragmatic judgment, and the ability to translate non-technical needs into technical solutions.
- Preferred experience includes building tools for agencies, creative teams, or knowledge workers; scaling internal tools into external products; AI or automation workflows; founding or early-employee experience; and interest in brand, design, storytelling, or creative systems.
