Responsibilities
- Design and build high-performance, stable, scalable AdsWizz systems for enterprise deployment.
- Define and execute technology roadmaps for Simplecast, podcast monetization, and ad and podcast delivery services.
- Adopt IAB standards, openRTB, VAST, and modern advertising protocols into AdsWizz services.
- Lead the evolution of audio and video transcoding features using modern codecs and media formats.
- Develop and maintain enterprise architecture frameworks and lead architecture planning discussions.
- Collaborate with senior leadership, product, engineering, cloud operations, and incident management teams.
- Provide technical direction, mentor engineers, and foster a collaborative development environment.
- Identify and debug performance bottlenecks and contribute to project execution and organizational growth.
- Participate in interviewing and recruiting activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a similar field.
- 15+ years of software engineering experience in Java and 7+ years of experience building microservices and scalable products.
- Expertise in digital ad serving, including forecasting, pacing models, real-time bidding, openRTB, and related data models.
- Experience with podcast delivery, HLS, media containers, audio/video codecs, transcoding, and streaming technologies.
- Strong experience with REST API-based microservices, Spring Boot or Dropwizard, Hibernate, high availability, fault tolerance, circuit breakers, API versioning, and backward compatibility.
- Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms, relational and NoSQL databases, caching, messaging, containers, security standards, testing, and observability tools.
- Knowledge of software lifecycle, configuration management, release management, system verification, architecture documentation, and performance optimization.
- Ability to independently oversee major projects, make design tradeoffs, communicate with senior leadership, research new technologies, and collaborate across time zones.
- Preferred experience with Wowza, Icecast, Shoutcast, Python, and Go.
