Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, maintenance, and operation of scalable data platforms, data pipelines, backend services, and supporting infrastructure.
- Write efficient SQL for data extraction, transformation, analysis, schema design, and query optimization.
- Develop and maintain APIs and services using technologies such as FastAPI and SQLAlchemy.
- Own technical and architectural decisions for scalable, reliable, and maintainable data systems.
- Collaborate with data analysts, data scientists, and engineers to deliver reliable data solutions.
- Drive infrastructure design and upkeep for data workloads, including containers, orchestration, and provisioning.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve data-system performance and reliability, including incident response and root-cause analysis.
- Mentor engineers, lead code reviews, and raise the team's technical standards.
- Support the adoption of AI-assisted development capabilities.
Requirements
- Deep proficiency in Python for building applications, pipelines, or services at scale.
- Strong SQL skills, including performant queries, schema design, and optimization for large or complex datasets.
- Significant experience in data engineering or backend engineering, including end-to-end system ownership.
- Ability to make sound architectural and technical trade-off decisions.
- Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives.
- Experience developing and maintaining APIs and services.
- Experience working with AI-assisted development tools and supporting team adoption of AI capabilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
