Base Salary
$132k - $212k/yr
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical authority connecting core engineering, product management, executive leadership, and enterprise customer architects.
- Architect, scale, and validate production vSphere Kubernetes Service and VMware Cloud Foundation topologies for mission-critical and regulated deployments.
- Design and deploy real-time LLM inferencing, Retrieval Augmented Generation pipelines, and distributed AI runtime systems across GPU clusters.
- Lead large-scale migrations from legacy bare-metal, mainframe, stateful, and fragmented AI environments to cloud-native Kubernetes platforms.
- Develop production operators, custom resource definitions, prototype integrations, and other field code, and upstream contributions into core infrastructure software.
- Translate customer pain points and field patterns into product requirements and multi-year product roadmap priorities.
- Establish deployment standards, GitOps frameworks, and Cluster API and Operator patterns while mentoring Senior and Staff Forward Deployed Engineers.
Requirements
- 17+ years of related experience is required, including experience leading high-consequence infrastructure, distributed systems, AI platforms, or Kubernetes architectures at scale.
- Proven ability to work credibly with C-suite stakeholders while remaining hands-on with production code and staff-level engineers.
- Deep expertise in Kubernetes internals, Custom Resource Definitions, Kubernetes Operators, Cluster API, and GitOps frameworks.
- Experience with GPU infrastructure and AI inferencing technologies including NVIDIA vGPU, MIG, GPUDirect RDMA, vLLM, TGI, and Triton.
- Expertise running high-throughput, low-latency stateful workloads and distributed systems on Kubernetes.
- Experience with Ray, vLLM, SGLang, LeaderWorkerSets, vLLM-Orchestrator, Milvus, Qdrant, Pinecone, Apache Cassandra, ScyllaDB, Oracle Coherence, Hazelcast, Redis, Apache Ignite, Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, Pulsar, Apache Spark, Apache Flink, Dask, and Trino/Presto.
- Demonstrated success migrating complex enterprise monoliths, mainframe or bare-metal systems, and siloed AI hardware to cloud-native platforms with zero-downtime pathways.
- Hands-on systems and platform development experience in Go, Python, or Java.
- Fluency across OpenShift, EKS, GKE, AKS, Rancher RKE/RKS, and networking and storage technologies including CSI, CNI, RDMA, InfiniBand, and RoCEv2.
- A bachelor's degree is preferred; relevant experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
