Responsibilities
- Collaborate directly with core software architects, product managers, and enterprise developers to remove deployment and adoption friction.
- Build, test, and deploy production code, prototype integrations, and field fixes in customer environments.
- Own customer engagements from pre-migration discovery through go-live and operational stabilization.
- Write code, build Kubernetes manifests, troubleshoot live networking, storage, and GPU failures, and optimize VKS performance.
- Architect, deploy, and maintain production VKS clusters across VMware Cloud Foundation and hybrid cloud infrastructure.
- Lead migrations from bare metal, legacy platforms, and data stacks to VKS or cloud-native Kubernetes targets.
- Deploy, tune, and scale AI inferencing, RAG, vector search, and model-serving workloads using virtualized GPU resources.
- Containerize, refactor, and migrate stateful engines, message brokers, distributed caches, and analytics platforms onto Kubernetes.
- Architect operator-driven deployments for cloud-native data processing, orchestration, and distributed AI frameworks.
- Guide customers operating VKS alongside OpenShift, EKS, GKE, AKS, and Rancher distributions.
- Convert customer pain points, field-tested code, and architectural patterns into product requirements and feature priorities.
Requirements
- 12+ years of related experience is required.
- Bachelor's degree is preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Experience working within or closely alongside product engineering or R&D organizations rather than only in IT or professional services.
- Proven experience leading long-term, complex engineering engagements with customer technical leaders and developers.
- Hands-on experience with GPU-accelerated Kubernetes, model-serving runtimes, vector databases, and distributed AI orchestration.
- Experience containerizing and operating distributed systems, stateful workloads, caching platforms, messaging systems, analytics engines, and data services.
- Deep technical knowledge of deploying, tuning, and scaling containerized data services, AI engines, and orchestrators.
- Technical proficiency across competing enterprise Kubernetes distributions.
- Advanced skills in Terraform, Helm, Kubernetes Operators, Cluster API, and GitOps tools.
