Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical authority connecting core engineering, product management, executive leadership, and enterprise customer architects.
- Architect, scale, and validate production VMware Cloud Foundation and vSphere Kubernetes Service topologies for complex and regulated deployments.
- Design and deploy real-time LLM inference systems, Retrieval Augmented Generation pipelines, and distributed AI runtimes on high-density GPU clusters.
- Lead migration strategies for legacy bare-metal systems, stateful platforms, risk-calculation systems, and AI workloads to cloud-native Kubernetes environments.
- Write production operators, Custom Resource Definitions, prototype integrations, and other infrastructure code in the field, upstreaming contributions into core engineering codebases.
- Convert customer pain points and field patterns into product requirements and influence multi-year product roadmaps.
- Establish deployment standards, GitOps frameworks, and Cluster API and Operator patterns while mentoring Senior and Staff Forward Deployed Engineers.
Requirements
- 17+ years of related experience is required, including 10+ years of software engineering experience and 5+ years driving large-scale infrastructure, distributed-systems, AI-platform, or Kubernetes architectures.
- Principal-level experience commanding technical credibility with C-suite stakeholders while remaining hands-on with production code and staff-level engineers.
- Expertise in Kubernetes internals, Custom Resource Definitions, Kubernetes Operators, Cluster API, and GitOps architectures such as ArgoCD and Flux.
- Experience architecting AI inference pipelines, virtualized GPU environments, model-serving frameworks, and distributed inference topologies.
- Expertise running high-throughput, low-latency stateful systems, including distributed compute, vector and NoSQL databases, caching systems, messaging, streaming, and analytics engines.
- Demonstrated experience migrating complex enterprise monoliths, mainframe or bare-metal environments, and siloed AI hardware to cloud-native platforms.
- Hands-on systems and platform development experience in Go, Python, or Java.
- Technical fluency across OpenShift, EKS, GKE, AKS, Rancher, RKE/RKS, CSI/CNI, RDMA, InfiniBand, RoCEv2, and storage abstractions.
- A bachelor's degree is preferred; relevant years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

- Annual base salary range of USD 132,200.00 to USD 211,500.00, plus eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus and equity awards.
