Responsibilities
- Set team technical strategy on a year-long horizon and connect it to business-impacting projects.
- Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Define and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes as a force multiplier.
- Own team operations and availability through monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, alerting, and on-call support.
- Set code review and design standards and promote quality through writing and technical talks.
- Mentor engineers, provide feedback and guidance, and lead by example.
- Design, develop, and launch scalable backend systems and declarative web applications across mobile and web experiences.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience as a software engineer.
- Proficiency designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using technologies such as Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Proficiency developing web applications with declarative UI frameworks such as React, React Native, or Vue.
- Experience delivering major features or system components, or deprecating existing functionality, through technical and execution planning.
- Ability to write high-quality, understandable, reusable code and work from low-level language idioms through large-system architecture.
- Evidence of gathering and iterating on feedback from engineering and cross-functional peers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
