Base Salary

$161k - $193k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own high-fidelity vehicle dynamics models representing longitudinal, lateral, and transient truck behavior.
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable simulation platforms for closed-loop autonomous driving validation.
  • Partner with autonomy engineering teams to implement vehicle model requirements for planning, controls, and system-level verification and validation.
  • Communicate model capabilities, limitations, updates, and release notes to autonomy validation teams.
  • Use automated regression frameworks to prevent model updates from degrading autonomy verification and validation performance.
  • Perform software development lifecycle activities primarily in C++ within Linux using ROS/ROS2 tooling.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for issues found in simulation runs and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
  • Design test plans for data acquisition and telemetry supporting field data collection and model refinement.
  • Support system-level test plans and verification strategies.
  • Collaborate with OEM partners and simulation tool vendors to evaluate, integrate, and co-develop simulation capabilities.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to technical direction across simulation and autonomy domains.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field plus 6+ years of relevant experience; or a master's degree plus 3+ years; or a PhD plus 1+ year.
  • Proficiency in C++, Python, ROS/ROS2, CMake, and Linux.
  • Experience with physics-based ground-vehicle modeling, including longitudinal and lateral dynamics, tire models, and powertrain.
  • Working knowledge of autonomous vehicle autonomy stack architecture, including planning, controls, and system integration.
  • Experience with unit, integration, and regression testing, automated validation pipelines, and simulation-based performance benchmarking.
  • Ability to communicate vehicle model capabilities and limitations, capture autonomy requirements, and drive consensus across technical teams.
  • Ability to own technical systems across multiple repositories and contribute to cross-organization architectural decisions.
  • Advanced-level professional capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to mentor engineers and contribute to technical direction.
  • Experience with high-fidelity truck, trailer, or heavy-vehicle models is beneficial.
  • Experience building or extending closed-loop autonomous vehicle simulation environments is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with scenario-based validation, sim-to-real correlation, and learned models consuming simulation outputs is beneficial.
