Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the technology strategy and architecture roadmap for Reaxys and the wider Chemistry Solutions domain.
- Partner with the Lead Architect and other domain architects to provide technical consultancy, leadership, and architectural best practices.
- Guide the application of generative AI, large language models, machine learning, knowledge graphs, and related technologies to chemistry data, search, and discovery.
- Review technical designs, development projects, and evaluations to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable, and cost-effective.
- Monitor domain design and operational health and propose responses to risks, technical debt, and emerging needs.
- Research technology advancements and identify opportunities to improve chemistry solutions.
- Develop information-security and data-governance practices and coordinate responses to enterprise security issues.
- Lead cross-functional troubleshooting of complex Chemistry Domain issues.
Requirements
- Significant experience in software, network, or systems architecture, including architectural design, patterns, and governance.
- Good working knowledge of more than one programming language.
- Current practical experience applying AI/ML technologies such as generative AI, large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, natural language processing, information retrieval, or data mining, ideally at scale.
- Working knowledge of several cloud-native and distributed architectures, large-scale data platforms and databases, knowledge graphs and linked data, semantic search, and high-performance or parallel processing.
- Familiarity with data and ML engineering practices including infrastructure-as-code, containerisation, and MLOps.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills for communicating complex technical content to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Track record contributing to complex technology projects in a global, matrixed environment.
- Ability to engage, influence, and build relationships with stakeholders, teams, and vendors.
- Background or genuine interest in chemistry, life sciences, or scientific data is highly desirable.
