Base Salary
$178k - $227k/yr
Responsibilities
- Establish product-specific security bars, threat models, and defense priorities.
- Guide builder teams toward secure-by-default solutions and advise on complex security decisions.
- Identify design and implementation defects, technical debt, vulnerabilities, and long-term security risks.
- Advocate for security testing tools, detection mechanisms, security linting, and static analysis.
- Mentor engineers and security advocates through one-on-one sessions and office hours.
- Assist red teams with security-testing priorities, penetration-test scoping, and technical deep dives.
- Investigate emerging security issues, perform root-cause analysis, and design preventative mechanisms.
- Partner with business and product leaders to define security priorities and measure security execution.
Requirements
- 5+ years of non-internship experience troubleshooting system issues, analyzing logs, or automating complex tasks with command-line tools.
- 5+ years of experience identifying security issues and risks and developing mitigation plans.
- 5+ years of non-internship experience with scripting, programming, and security code review in common programming languages.
- Knowledge of at least two of Scala, Java, Python, C/C++, or Go.
- Experience mentoring, serving as a technical lead, or leading an engineering team.
- Strong written and oral communication skills across technical, business, and executive audiences.
- Preferred: experience with threat modeling or equivalent risk-identification techniques.
- Preferred: experience securing service-oriented architectures, microservices, and web services.
- Preferred: experience using data and metrics to evaluate outcomes and support decisions.
- Preferred: 8+ years of experience performing or participating in technical security assessments at the code, application, or network/infrastructure level.
- Candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee due to export-control requirements.
