Responsibilities

  • Write advanced and complex code and complete complex bug fixes.
  • Set architectural standards and participate in the evolution of software architecture.
  • Review work for compliance with enterprise and architectural standards and processes.
  • Lead technical standards development and recommend technical strategy across functional areas.
  • Manage system and user acceptance testing cycles.
  • Design, manipulate, optimize, and work with complex data models and storage subsystems.
  • Serve as a primary technical contact for external technology resources and collaborate with customers and end users.
  • Mentor engineers and lead software developers on development practices, optimization, and consultancy skills.
  • Troubleshoot complex project issues, system outages, risks, and impacts while coordinating appropriate resources.
  • Write and review detailed technical specifications for system components.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent experience; an advanced degree is preferred.
  • Broad companywide or industrywide technical knowledge and expertise with large complex systems.
  • Expertise in architectural principles, software development best practices, test-driven development, data modeling, data manipulation, optimization, tuning, and multiple data storage subsystems.
  • Expertise with development languages and technologies including Java/J2EE, JavaScript, JSP, C/C++, HTML, XML, SQL, Windows, UNIX, and .NET.
  • Experience leading and partnering with internal and external technology resources, including managed services or staff augmentation models.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and finance, research skills, and applicable desktop tool sets.
  • Strong project planning, time management, change management, delegation, problem-solving, communication, presentation, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
