Responsibilities
- Maintain the prototype software stack and develop the next generation of systems for future quantum-computing deployments.
- Work with hardware experts to understand requirements, scope features, and develop new functionality.
- Design software systems and interfaces while contributing to architectural decisions across multiple layers of the stack.
- Benchmark, profile, scale, and optimize software components for larger qubit counts and more complex architectures.
- Improve integration testing across the software stack, including building custom dummy devices and digital twins.
- Develop software for QPU control, data acquisition and analysis, database and queue management, and job validation and submission APIs.
- Prepare components for robust, production-ready deployment and contribute to technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
Requirements
- A minimum 2.1 degree in Computer Science or a closely related discipline from a top university.
- At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience with strong proficiency in Python.
- Experience designing, developing, and maintaining complex software systems and making architectural decisions balancing scalability, maintainability, performance, and reliability.
- Experience working across multiple layers of a software system and understanding how components and interfaces fit together.
- Experience profiling, benchmarking, and optimizing software and identifying performance bottlenecks.
- Exposure to C, C++, Rust, and/or GPU programming and GPU optimization.
- Experience with Git, version control, and software development best practices.
- Strong collaboration, communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently.
- Desirable experience building simulators, digital twins, or software models of complex systems.
- Desirable experience developing software interfaces for laboratory instruments, scientific equipment, or other technical devices.
- Desirable experience preparing technical reports and presentations for key stakeholders.
