Responsibilities
- Implement vehicle properties, including configuration, get/set handlers, change notifications, and unavailable or error-state handling.
- Map raw vehicle-bus signals to Android property semantics using conversion, scaling, offset, endianness, enumeration, validity, timeout, and staleness logic.
- Develop and maintain Java/Kotlin Android services and app-facing components using CarPropertyManager.
- Extend the reference and emulated VHAL and property-injection tooling for testing without target hardware.
- Build property dump utilities, signal simulators, log parsers, and configuration generators.
- Debug across Android and automotive stacks using logcat, dumpsys, adb shell, systrace/perfetto, and CAN/SOME/IP traces.
- Write GTest, JUnit, Mockito, VTS, and instrumentation tests; reproduce defects and provide root-cause write-ups.
- Contribute to design and code reviews, scoped SELinux policy changes, and technical documentation.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in Automotive Digital Cockpit Solutions.
- At least 5 years of total experience, including 2 or more years with Android platform, system apps, embedded Android, or automotive embedded C++.
- Strong Java and Kotlin skills for framework-level development.
- Working-to-proficient C++ skills, including C++11/14/17, STL containers, smart pointers, and basic concurrency.
- Understanding of Android architecture, including activities, services, Binder, AIDL, system services, apps, and permissions.
- Experience building and flashing an AOSP image and using repo, Android.bp, Android.mk, lunch, make, adb, and fastboot.
- Working understanding of HALs and AIDL/HIDL interface declaration and serving.
- Awareness of SELinux denial messages, .te syntax, and scoped policy rules.
- Basic familiarity with CAN frames and signals, DBC files, and SOME/IP.
- Preferred qualifications include CarPropertyManager, VehiclePropertyIds, AAOS emulator, Python, Bash, CI tooling, and Gerrit experience.
- A minimum of 15 years of full-time education is required.
