Base Salary
$150k - $185k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and technical direction of highly concurrent distributed backend systems in Go across multiple teams.
- Drive design decisions for the proxy data plane, including gateways and relays, and for control-plane services.
- Partner with architects, product managers, and DevOps/SRE leadership on multi-quarter system roadmaps and technical strategy.
- Guide the application of secure network protocols and cryptographic systems, including TLS/mTLS, credential brokering, and key management.
- Lead cross-team code and design reviews with high standards for performance, security, and maintainability.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues in distributed, multi-cloud production environments.
- Author and maintain architectural and technical strategy documentation.
- Mentor engineers and direct work as needed while building cross-team alignment.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Deep expertise in Go, distributed systems, and backend or network service development at scale.
- Experience architecting highly concurrent distributed systems and using Go’s standard networking and cryptography libraries.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, network protocols, and API design, including gRPC and Protobuf.
- Experience with AWS or another major cloud provider and cloud-native deployment models at production scale.
- Ability to reason about system-wide tradeoffs, communicate advanced technical concepts, and persuade diverse stakeholders.
- Experience coordinating across multiple teams and functions and building formal working relationships.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers and serving as a recognized subject matter expert.
- Preferred: experience with AWS, Azure, and/or GCP beyond a single provider.
- Preferred: experience influencing engineering-wide standards for Terraform automation and CI/CD pipelines.
- Preferred: expertise in secure protocols, mTLS, PKI, secrets management, and credential brokering.
- Preferred: familiarity with proxying database, SSH/RDP, Kubernetes, and HTTP traffic and building CLI or desktop client tooling.
- Preferred: experience shaping Zero Trust architecture, just-in-time access models, and policy-as-code such as Cedar.
