Responsibilities
- Improve the availability, performance, scalability, and resilience of systems and services through monitoring, maintenance, and capacity planning.
- Respond to incidents and outages, troubleshoot issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
- Develop tools and scripts to automate operational processes, deployments, and routine tasks.
- Monitor and optimize system performance and resource usage, identifying and addressing bottlenecks.
- Consult with private cloud, storage, network, and database infrastructure teams as part of the central SRE center of excellence.
- Promote reliability, scalability, performance, and SRE practices across the software development lifecycle.
- Support monitoring and alerting systems, IaaS and PaaS products, virtualization, containerization, orchestration, REST API integration, and database management.
- Advise stakeholders and senior management, manage technology risks and controls, and contribute to strategic and cross-functional initiatives.
Requirements
- Expertise in Python, PowerShell, or Go for automation and system deployments.
- Experience managing incidents, troubleshooting problems, and performing root-cause analysis.
- Deep understanding of systems engineering, including operating systems, networking, and cloud infrastructure.
- Proficiency with automation tools and familiarity with cloud platforms and services.
- Ability to approach reliability and infrastructure problems methodically and develop effective solutions.
- Experience with IaaS or PaaS products, virtualization, containerization, or compute, network, and storage orchestration is valued.
- Experience with REST API development and integration and database management or query languages is valued.
- Experience implementing monitoring and alerting systems for service availability and performance is valued.
- Effective communication and stakeholder collaboration skills, including the ability to encourage adoption of SRE practices and organizational change.
- May be assessed on risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology, and role-specific technical skills.
