Responsibilities
- Build and operate scalable AWS platform infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code.
- Manage production monitoring, alerting, incident response, issue triage, and AWS cost optimization.
- Develop automation, tooling, applications, integrations, and APIs using Python or comparable languages.
- Design and support containerized, CI/CD, event-driven, messaging, networking, and batch or streaming data pipeline architectures.
- Write and integrate unit and integration tests for application and infrastructure code.
- Make independent technical decisions and mentor engineering teams while coordinating with onshore teams across time zones.
Requirements
- Expert-level experience with AWS services including EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, Glue, Athena, EMR, Secrets Manager, and CloudWatch.
- Strong infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Experience with production monitoring, alerting, incident response, AWS cost optimization, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitLab CI.
- Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems such as Kafka, SNS, SQS, or EventBridge.
- Proficiency with Linux-based operating systems, shell scripting, Python or a comparable general-purpose language, Git workflows, code review, modular design, dependency management, and maintainable documentation.
- Understanding of data pipeline architectures, networking fundamentals, and failure modes in batch and streaming systems.
- Experience managing and mentoring engineering teams and making independent technical decisions without escalation.
- Experience writing automated unit and integration tests and integrating them into CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to write integration code against REST APIs and cloud SDKs such as the AWS SDK or boto3.
- Preferred qualifications include Spark, Scala, Kafka or similar streaming platforms, Airflow, AWS Neptune, Neo4j, AI/ML infrastructure, LLM or agent deployment infrastructure, telecommunications or large-scale network operations, AWS certifications, and production FastAPI or Flask services.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, with strong communication and cross-time-zone coordination skills.
