Base Salary
$209k - $217k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and design high-performance, low-latency, high-throughput backend systems.
- Design, implement, integrate, test, and validate software solutions independently and in squads.
- Improve engineering systems, processes, software architecture, development practices, and technology adoption.
- Work with engineering leadership to plan backend architecture and solutions for high-traffic requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and guide engineers at varying levels on technical best practices.
- Collaborate across product, design, mobile, web, infrastructure, and engineering teams.
- Partner with third-party vendors to introduce new user-facing solutions.
- Own code and product features from conception through deployment and ongoing production support.
- Participate in the on-call rotation and support delivered systems.
- Adapt across backend, frontend, infrastructure, monitoring, and other system areas as required.
- Use data to inform business, product, and engineering decisions.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience building highly scalable backend systems for interactive mobile and web applications.
- At least 5 years of experience with Python, Java, Kotlin, or TypeScript.
- Experience building and managing complex distributed microservices in the cloud, preferably AWS or alternatively GCP or Azure.
- Experience with large-scale datastores such as Cassandra and Redis.
- Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB is a plus.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, New Relic, Datadog, Splunk, and modern CI/CD is a plus.
- Ability to advocate for strong software architecture, development best practices, and new technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to guide engineers at varying levels through large projects.
- Interest in working at a fast-paced, product-oriented technology company and a get-things-done mindset.
