Responsibilities
- Design, operate, scale, and troubleshoot distributed FoundationDB systems across geographically dispersed data centers.
- Own infrastructure ranging from device-driver performance debugging to content delivery network traffic management.
- Design, author, release, and maintain automation and service code.
- Deploy, support, and monitor services, platforms, and application stacks.
- Manage systems using configuration management and software delivery platforms.
- Perform scale testing, disaster recovery, and capacity planning.
- Improve manual operations through automation and iterative refinement.
- Collaborate with development teams to deliver reliable Apple services.
Requirements
- Experience managing and scaling distributed systems in public, private, or hybrid cloud environments.
- Ability to design, author, and release code in Go, Java, Python, or similar languages.
- Understanding of Linux, standard networking protocols, and system components.
- Hands-on experience managing large numbers of diverse systems with Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Spinnaker, or similar platforms.
- Experience deploying, supporting, and monitoring services, platforms, and application stacks.
- Experience with scale testing, disaster recovery, and capacity planning.
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and Kubernetes container orchestration.
- Strong ownership, integrity, communication, collaboration, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
