Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance web-based user interfaces for ICE Climate datasets using modern frontend frameworks and visualization techniques.
- Design and implement data models, transformations, and API endpoints supporting frontend visualizations.
- Execute the full software development lifecycle, including prototyping, iterative refinement, testing remediation, and release.
- Integrate and enhance web applications for exploring and analyzing climate datasets and methodologies across financial asset classes.
- Design and implement client-side strategies for rendering large geospatial and tabular datasets using tiling, virtualization, caching, and data-reduction techniques.
- Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of software components with minimal oversight.
- Independently manage project activities related to builds and deployments.
- Write and maintain automated tests, including end-to-end browser tests with tools such as Playwright.
- Use AI and LLM-based developer tooling to accelerate development and improve code quality.
- Identify opportunities to improve and optimize applications.
- Collaborate with business analysts and product management to understand and refine requirements.
Requirements
- 3+ years of professional software development experience.
- Experience with JavaScript technologies, particularly React and TypeScript.
- Experience with Node.js backend frameworks, particularly NestJS.
- Experience with Python web backend frameworks, particularly FastAPI.
- Experience with relational databases and SQL, including analytical queries against cloud data warehouses such as Google BigQuery.
- Knowledge of web protocols and standards including HTML5, HTTP, WebSockets, CORS, cookies, and session management.
- Experience with cloud computing and infrastructure, especially Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience with client-side mapping using Mapbox GL JS, including vector tiles, GeoJSON, and custom source, layer, and style configuration.
- Experience with spatial data in relational databases, particularly PostGIS, including spatial indexes and SQL-level geometric operations.
- Ability to optimize client-side rendering of large datasets using techniques such as vector tiles, virtualization, web workers, data decimation, IndexedDB caching, React performance profiling, and GPU-accelerated rendering.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks, particularly end-to-end browser testing such as Playwright.
- Practical experience using AI and LLM coding assistants productively in development workflows.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with technical colleagues, business stakeholders, and client end-users.
