Base Salary
$102k - $219k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Windows Input and Composition components, including input services, IME, DWM, desktop rendering, transparency, animations, and composition.
- Design and develop software and services at scale while owning multiple features and collaborating across groups.
- Investigate and resolve complex Windows customer-reported problems using operating-system fundamentals, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
- Write extensible, maintainable, secure, reliable, and diagnosable code using engineering best practices and AI productivity tools.
- Create testing plans, add and improve automated and unit tests, remove outdated tests, and increase feature-area test coverage.
- Integrate instrumentation and telemetry for system performance, reliability, availability, usage, and safety.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field and 2+ years of technical engineering experience with coding, or equivalent experience.
- Coding experience in one or more of C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred: ability to design and troubleshoot complex issues in large systems such as operating systems.
- Preferred: system programming experience and operating-system debugging experience with Windows Debugger (WinDbg) or Linux Debugger.
- Preferred: strong problem-solving, debugging, troubleshooting, and ability to learn evolving technologies.
Benefits
- Typical U.S. base pay range is USD $102,100-$202,200 per year; a separate range applies to the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area.
