Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain storage and file system components across Windows and Linux client, server, and cloud systems.
- Design and implement storage features with internal and external partners.
- Analyze the performance and functionality of storage designs and implementations.
- Own the software engineering lifecycle from design and development through code review, validation, delivery, and maintenance.
- Author documentation and tools, participate in broader design and code reviews, and support the growth of less experienced engineers.
- Build expertise in the storage ecosystem and apply it to new feature development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 2+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years of systems-level software development experience in C, C++, or Rust.
- At least 2 years of systems engineering experience involving multithreaded programming, synchronization, and locking.
- Knowledge of advanced data structures including B-trees, hash tables, skip lists, LSM trees, and RCU synchronization.
- At least 2 years of kernel and device-driver development experience in Linux or Windows.
- Experience designing key-value stores such as NoSQL databases, Redis, or RocksDB, including ACID transaction support.
- Experience with storage or file systems in Windows, Linux, or Kubernetes.
- Experience analyzing storage performance and functionality and familiarity with current and emerging storage technologies.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud background check.
Benefits
- The typical U.S. base pay range is USD $102,100–$202,200 per year, with a separate San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area range of USD $133,800–$219,200 per year.
- Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
- The position is open for a minimum of 5 days and accepts applications on an ongoing basis until filled.
