Responsibilities
- Own multiple Windows system features end to end, from architecture and implementation through testing, deployment, monitoring, and support.
- Develop and maintain Task Manager and other Windows system tools, services, APIs, diagnostics infrastructure, and user-facing experiences.
- Build capabilities for diagnosing device, application, process, performance, reliability, and resource-related issues.
- Create maintainable, extensible, reliable, and secure production code using established coding patterns and best practices.
- Develop test plans, define success criteria, improve test coverage, and incorporate automated testing across unit, integration, regression, accessibility, performance, and compatibility scenarios.
- Integrate instrumentation and use telemetry, diagnostics, experimentation, dashboards, and data pipelines to understand system behavior and product quality.
- Drive features through design, experimentation, flighting, localization, validation, deployment, and production rollout.
- Investigate and resolve complex Windows customer-reported problems while collaborating across groups.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field and at least 2 years of technical engineering experience coding in languages including C++, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
- Preferred: master's degree in computer science or a related technical field and at least 3 years of technical engineering experience, or bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of technical engineering experience, with C++ coding experience.
- Experience developing or integrating AI-powered capabilities into production software is preferred within the role's focus areas.
