Base Salary
$182k - $306k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and drive long-term technical strategy and architecture for scalable, secure, observable, and cost-efficient backend platforms and services.
- Lead design and implementation of high-throughput, low-latency APIs, data and event pipelines, and platform capabilities.
- Solve complex technical problems through architecture decisions, prototyping, experimentation, and data-driven tradeoffs.
- Partner with product, data, and machine learning leaders to translate business goals into technical roadmaps and manage cross-team dependencies.
- Mentor and coach senior engineers and tech leads across multiple teams.
- Influence reliability, performance, testing, incident response, operational excellence, data governance, security, and compliance practices.
- Drive adoption of backend technologies, tooling, and workflows that improve developer experience and delivery quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, and operating backend or distributed systems in production.
- Experience leading large-scale, highly available, high-volume services or platforms, ideally in AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Experience providing technical leadership across teams or domains, setting architectural direction, influencing roadmaps, and driving complex initiatives from concept to production.
- Strong judgment, self-direction, technical strategy, mentoring, and cross-functional influence are required for the principal-level scope.

- Remote work from a physical location of choice within the United States, with limited exceptions.
- Annual base-pay range of $191,300.00-$305,700.00 in specified higher-pay locations or $181,800.00-$290,400.00 in specified other locations.
