Responsibilities
- Define scalable, secure, reliable, and maintainable frontend and digital solution architectures for web, mobile, and AI-enabled products.
- Translate business goals into technology roadmaps and practical digital product architecture.
- Support modernization initiatives, reduce technical debt, close architecture gaps, and enable new digital capabilities.
- Partner with product and delivery teams to refine backlogs, assess feasibility, and guide implementation decisions.
- Communicate architecture decisions, trade-offs, risks, and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Identify delivery and architecture risks, recommend mitigations, and support continuous improvement after implementation.
- Create and review design artifacts supporting engineering, security, service, and delivery needs.
- Mentor and coach team members and contribute to Aviva’s architecture community and design practices.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and collaborate with product managers, engineers, platform specialists, architects, delivery partners, suppliers, and technology partners.
Requirements
- Strong experience with digital application and web architecture.
- Experience with frontend frameworks such as React and Angular, mobile frameworks such as React Native, and UX design tools such as Figma.
- Knowledge of web application security, CDN and edge technologies, performance optimization, observability, and end-user monitoring.
- Experience integrating AI services into digital products and using digital data and analytics platforms, including Google and Adobe solutions.
- Insurance industry experience, including Guidewire, is an asset.
- Experience with REST, GraphQL, Pub/Sub, WebSockets, Java, Node.js, microservices, micro apps, Kubernetes, and cloud computing is an asset.
- Understanding of end-to-end project delivery, Agile delivery methods, modern software development practices, and public cloud certification, preferably AWS, is an asset.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, leadership, relationship-building, influence, strategic planning, and technical decision-making skills.
