Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, maintain, and operate secure, observable, reliable, and maintainable production software.
- Lead, coach, and mentor engineers through pairing, design discussions, code reviews, and technical feedback.
- Own complex technical decisions and provide technical direction across solution design, integration, testing, deployment, security, and operational readiness.
- Collaborate with product, delivery, architecture, platform, quality, and business stakeholders to shape plans, estimate work, manage dependencies, and balance scope, quality, risk, and delivery.
- Establish engineering standards for source control, branching, coding practices, automated testing, secure development, documentation, and release readiness.
- Support CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Azure Pipelines, including quality gates, security checks, releases, and deployments.
- Contribute to cloud-native application design and operation on Microsoft Azure and review application-related Terraform changes with Platform team support.
- Support production services through monitoring, incident response, root-cause analysis, service improvement, and technical-debt management.
- Communicate technical progress, risks, trade-offs, and decisions clearly and improve delivery flow, quality, reliability, and operational performance.
Requirements
- Substantial experience delivering production software with demonstrable technical leadership in a multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Experience owning complex technical decisions from requirements and design through implementation, deployment, and live operation.
- Deep knowledge of C#, ASP.NET Core, and the Microsoft .NET ecosystem.
- Strong experience designing and delivering secure APIs, background services, integrations, and distributed systems.
- Experience with relational data, SQL Server, Entity Framework Core, transaction management, data modelling, and integration patterns.
- Experience designing cloud-native services for Microsoft Azure, including compute, storage, messaging, identity, configuration, networking, and managed data services.
- Strong understanding of authentication, authorisation, secure API design, secrets management, dependency management, and application-security risks.
- Experience with automated unit, integration, contract, component, performance, and front-end testing.
- Experience with structured logging, metrics, tracing, health checks, monitoring, and operational diagnostics.
- Experience supporting production services, including incident response, root-cause analysis, monitoring, service improvement, and technical-debt management.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, Azure Pipelines, YAML-based pipelines, reusable workflows, environments, approvals, quality gates, and release strategies.
- Working knowledge of Terraform and infrastructure-as-code concepts sufficient to review and contribute to application-related infrastructure changes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to explain technical decisions, risks, and trade-offs to varied stakeholders.
- React and TypeScript experience, including front-end architecture, testing, accessibility, responsive interfaces, and API integration, is preferred for full-stack candidates.
