Responsibilities
- Design, build, operate, and maintain critical distributed alerting systems.
- Scale alert ingestion and delivery of Prometheus-based alerts and alert evaluation for Grafana-managed alerts.
- Drive projects from initial ideation through operations after delivery to customers.
- Own system reliability, performance, and availability, including participation in on-call rotations.
- Deliver new features, evaluate results, and iterate based on customer feedback and data.
- Influence the roadmap and contribute to open-source projects beyond the immediate team scope.
- Mentor and support team members and participate in design discussions.
- Collaborate with customers and Grafana Cloud teams to support on-premises and cloud alerting at scale.
Requirements
- Solid experience with at least one programming language; Go is used by the team, while Python, Java, C++, Rust, or similar experience is also relevant.
- Experience delivering projects from requirements gathering and ideation through product shipment in a self-driven manner.
- Experience developing software that runs in the cloud or experience with systems engineering.
- Experience writing clean, robust, performant, and maintainable software.
- Strong customer focus, communication, collaboration, pragmatism, and self-directed working style.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of operated services.
