Responsibilities
- Design, build, operate, and maintain critical backend systems for Grafana Alerting and SLOs.
- Build distributed systems that scale alert ingestion, delivery, and evaluation for Grafana and Prometheus-based alerts.
- Drive projects from initial ideation and requirements gathering through delivery, operations, and customer feedback.
- Own the reliability, performance, and availability of running services and participate in on-call rotations.
- Contribute to Grafana’s open-source projects, collaborate in design discussions, and mentor and support teammates.
Requirements
- Solid experience with at least one programming language; Go is used by the team, while Python, Java, C++, Rust, or similar experience is transferable.
- Some experience developing software that runs in the cloud or experience with systems engineering.
- Experience delivering projects from requirements gathering and ideation through shipping to customers in a self-driven way.
- Experience writing clean, robust, performant, and maintainable software.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with an independent approach suited to a remote-first environment.
- Customer focus, pragmatic problem-solving ability, and willingness to learn a large distributed systems codebase.
