Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain full-stack applications, internal tools, automation systems, and data tools for Apple News operational workflows.
  • Use Python for scripting, automation, and backend services.
  • Design and optimize SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Develop frontend functionality with React and related technologies.
  • Analyze data and build solutions that produce actionable insights.
  • Provide technical guidance to publishers, support platform integrations, and troubleshoot integration issues.
  • Present technical architecture and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Apply AI-assisted development practices to improve productivity and documentation.

Requirements

  • Requires 2 to 4 years of experience in software engineering or technical operations, with shipped internal tooling or automation systems.
  • Requires solid Python proficiency applied to scripting, automation, or backend services.
  • Requires hands-on experience designing and optimizing SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Requires experience with React and related frontend technologies.
  • Requires the ability to analyze data and develop solutions that drive actionable insights.
  • Requires familiarity with and strong interest in applying AI to tooling and productivity.
  • Preferred experience presenting technical architecture or recommendations to varied audiences, including non-engineers.
  • Preferred strong debugging and triage skills, with security-conscious engineering practices in code review and data handling.
  • Preferred experience working directly with external partners in a technical capacity.
  • Preferred familiarity with media, publishing, or digital content platforms and content pipelines and publisher ecosystems.
