Responsibilities

Define authorization models and enforce least privilege for AI-agent actions performed on users’ behalf.
Build phishing-resistant authentication and authorization for people and AI agents.
Shape product direction by identifying customer needs, defining outcomes, and building solutions.
Own product and quality decisions and take accountability for outcomes beyond the code.
Make and defend scalable architectural decisions for distributed systems and complex API integrations.
Advance the use of AI across the software development lifecycle and establish practices for the team.
Coach engineers, raise technical judgment, and improve team-wide engineering quality.
Prioritize and drive improvements to technical debt, reliability, support, documentation, observability, and development practices.

Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, identify priorities, and operate effectively amid ambiguity.
Advanced proficiency applying AI tools across the software development lifecycle and evaluating development tooling.
Proven experience defining scalable backend architectures and integrating complex APIs with modern web technologies.
Strong understanding of web authentication and authorization flows and protection of sensitive user data.
Deep expertise building reliable, secure, enterprise-grade software in Java or another type-safe language.
High proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript with the ability to build robust frontends.
Strong cloud architecture fundamentals and experience designing and operating large-scale services on AWS.
Experience with zero-to-one or startup-like teams, leading organizational shifts in AI adoption or developer tooling, or developing IAM tooling is preferred.

Annual base salary range in Canada is $160,000—$220,000 CAD, with equity where applicable and bonus eligibility.
