Responsibilities
- Develop low-latency communication primitives and libraries for distributed CPU, GPU, and FPGA systems.
- Build high-performance software components for new hardware platforms and programming paradigms.
- Implement algorithms efficiently and understandably from abstract descriptions.
- Develop benchmarking, profiling, compilation-pipeline, and quantum-resource-tracking tools for the PennyLane and Catalyst stack.
- Participate in software specification, architecture, documentation, verification, validation, quality assurance, unit testing, continuous integration, and code review.
- Communicate complex technical concepts and provide leadership in software engineering best practices.
Requirements
- BSc in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience with low-level networking or systems programming, including low-latency communication, concurrency, high-performance libraries, or OS internals.
- Proficiency in high-performance Modern C++ and Python.
- Deep understanding of CPU, GPU, and memory-hierarchy architecture, with hands-on runtime and memory optimization experience using professional profiling tools.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues across compiled and interpreted environments using industry-standard debuggers.
- Preferred: MSc or PhD in a relevant field.
- Preferred: experience with multithreading, multiprocessing, GPUs, accelerators, or compiler offload directives.
- Preferred: experience designing scalable and reproducible scientific workloads on HPC, supercomputer, or cloud platforms.
- Preferred: quantum-computing expertise demonstrated through coursework, a thesis, or peer-reviewed publications.
- Preferred: experience writing complex quantum workflows and optimizing quantum-resource use.

- Base salary range of 120,000–160,000 CAD, determined by location, experience, and internal benchmarks.
