Responsibilities
- Write reusable, testable, optimized, and efficient software for large-scale production systems.
- Expand Avalara1099 APIs and UI using Ruby on Rails, C#, React, and PostgreSQL.
- Address security, performance, load, scalability, availability, and fault tolerance requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, business teams, customers, and other partners to ship features and communicate updates and resolutions.
- Improve technical troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, diagnostic approaches, documentation, and resolution quality.
- Mentor teammates, share knowledge, and strengthen engineering and product collaboration.
- Identify automation and workflow improvements that increase scalability and reduce manual troubleshooting.
- Use AI tools for development, root-cause analysis, case-history summaries, and knowledge-base content, and measure resulting improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or engineering.
- 6+ years of experience in Ruby on Rails or C#.
- Experience publishing and consuming APIs and working with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL.
- Strong object-oriented programming, debugging, data structures, algorithms, and optimized coding skills.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitLab, Terraform, containers, Kubernetes, ECS, and Docker Swarm.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Understanding of web application security, scalable systems, low-latency APIs, availability, and fault-tolerant engineering.
- Experience working in Agile teams and adapting to lean startup environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, collaboration, creativity, persistence, and adaptability skills.
- Experience using AI and AI-related technologies and willingness to apply AI to daily business and engineering challenges.
- English-language resume required due to international team interaction.
