Responsibilities
- Build Elixir services that consume ML predictions from Modal.com, Vertex AI, and other ML platforms.
- Integrate AI capabilities into core platform services, including edge-based inference where appropriate.
- Implement fault tolerance, intelligent fallbacks, caching, optimization, monitoring, alerting, and observability.
- Build real-time Kafka and Elixir-process data pipelines for ML models.
- Develop demand planning, intelligent routing, anomaly detection, recommendation, and real-time prediction services.
- Design APIs for LLM integrations with OpenAI, Anthropic, Workers AI, and similar platforms.
- Design scalable distributed systems for millions of AI-powered logistics operations.
- Build developer tools, abstractions, configuration management, and feature flagging for AI capabilities and experimentation.
- Collaborate with AI product leadership, Data Scientists, ML/Data Engineers, and product teams.
- Mentor engineers on AI tools, integration patterns, and best practices.
Requirements
- 2+ years of expert-level Elixir/Phoenix experience building and scaling production systems.
- 2+ years of TypeScript experience and willingness to use the best language for each task.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, fault tolerance, supervision trees, and OTP patterns.
- Experience designing and integrating APIs and event-driven architectures.
- Advanced SQL and PostgreSQL expertise; AlloyDB experience is preferred.
- Experience with Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar streaming platforms.
- Hands-on experience with GCP preferred, or AWS or Azure.
- Experience optimizing high-throughput, low-latency systems.
- Experience integrating LLMs such as OpenAI or Anthropic Claude is preferred.
- Cloudflare Workers/AI or other edge-platform experience is preferred.
- Preferred experience includes event sourcing, feature stores, real-time ML serving, GenAI applications, prompt engineering, vector databases, semantic search, A/B testing, experimentation platforms, logistics, e-commerce, or supply chain.
- Open-source contributions to Elixir, TypeScript, or AI projects are preferred.
