Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of significant technology initiatives across multiple architectural layers.
- Lead an engineering team of 10–35 engineers building and supporting customer-facing products.
- Spend approximately 70–80% of the role on hands-on coding and technical delivery.
- Build scalable, highly available, secure, API-based, event-driven, and cloud-native services.
- Own product delivery end to end, including specifications, quality, release deployments, production support, and monitoring.
- Partner with business, product, architecture, engineering, and external groups on solution integration and onboarding.
- Influence workflow and experience designs while collaborating with Product Managers and Experience Designers.
- Coach and mentor engineers in engineering excellence, processes, and methodologies.
- Drive innovation, recommend technology best practices, and share technical learning.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a relevant advanced degree is mandatory.
- At least 10 years of technology architecture and product engineering experience, including at least 3 years in SaaS and public cloud environments.
- At least 5 years of experience developing complex, distributed, scalable API-based and event-driven systems, API externalizations, and headless products.
- Strong object-oriented design and service-oriented architecture experience, with the ability to implement solutions in Java/J2EE or another language of choice.
- Practical experience with microservices, containers, and container management systems such as Kubernetes or Mesos.
- Experience building and deploying applications and services in cloud environments; AWS and serverless development experience are highly desired.
- Strong design and coding skills with Node, Java, Spring, Maven or Gradle, GraphQL, JSON, and messaging technologies such as Kafka, Pulsar, or ActiveMQ.
- Experience with UI frameworks such as React, Backbone, or Angular is desirable.
- Experience with test automation, including unit, integration, and functional testing, as well as CI/CD practices.
- Strong database design experience with SQL and NoSQL systems; data analytics and business intelligence knowledge is a plus.
- One or more solution or enterprise architecture certifications is desirable, such as SAFe Architect or TOGAF.
- Experience with capability-based planning to execution and complex project delivery.
- Experience leading engineering teams, managing C-level stakeholders, and delivering durable software solutions.
