Responsibilities
- Design, implement, administer, and continuously improve enterprise database environments across development, test, and production.
- Develop high-availability, scalable, secure, and high-performing database architectures and solutions.
- Perform database monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning, root cause analysis, and operational troubleshooting.
- Design and maintain backup, recovery, replication, standby, and disaster recovery solutions, including recovery testing.
- Implement database security, access management, authentication, authorization, auditing, and compliance controls.
- Drive database automation using Ansible, scripting languages, and configuration management tools.
- Contribute to platform modernization, cloud transformation, database standardization, and Database-as-a-Service initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance to development teams, architects, project teams, and business stakeholders on database solutions.
- Develop documentation, standards, governance procedures, and service descriptions while mentoring team members.
- Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation after onboarding and knowledge transfer, and manage database incidents and service requests through IT service management tools.
Requirements
- At least 12 years of professional experience is required.
- 15 years of full-time education is required.
- Hands-on enterprise experience in database design, implementation, administration, and performance optimization.
- Experience supporting business-critical applications and highly available database platforms.
- Experience with one or more of Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Experience with Linux/Unix administration and Microsoft Windows Server.
- Experience with Ansible and programming or scripting languages including Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, or Shell/Bash.
- Experience with AWS RDS, cloud-native database services, or Database-as-a-Service concepts.
- Knowledge of database-native backup tools such as RMAN, pg_dump, and mysqldump; Commvault is preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, collaboration, organizational, and customer-service skills.
- Ability to work independently, lead technical initiatives, collaborate globally, and mentor team members.
