Base Salary
$79k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable distributed-system components and optimize systems for large-scale data processing.
- Develop fault-tolerant systems using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts.
- Implement performance, load, fault-injection, brown-out, and functional testing.
- Build alarms, dashboards, telemetry, and alerting to detect and address component failures.
- Draft and execute runbooks, troubleshoot operational issues, and participate in support rotations, incident response, and root-cause investigations.
- Create automation scripts and infrastructure-as-code tooling for troubleshooting and cloud infrastructure maintenance.
- Apply encryption, access controls, security remediation, compliance standards, and change-management practices.
- Track work with limited supervision, collaborate across teams, solve standard and non-standard issues, and contribute to continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Experience designing, implementing, and optimizing components of distributed systems for scalability, resiliency, operability, and large-scale data processing.
- Ability to implement replication, synchronization, failover, recovery-oriented techniques, retries, circuit breakers, timeouts, and reliability testing.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve operational issues and develop troubleshooting automation, runbooks, dashboards, telemetry, and alerting.
- Knowledge of advanced security controls, including encryption and access controls, along with cloud infrastructure compliance and documentation practices.
- Ability to manage timelines with limited supervision, prioritize changing work, collaborate across teams, and address complex technical problems appropriately.
