Responsibilities

  • Review software specifications, architecture, and design documents and clarify requirements with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Design and implement embedded C/C++ software components for automotive telematics and networking systems on Linux.
  • Analyze existing embedded software to add features, modify code, fix bugs, and port software to different platforms.
  • Perform debugging, root-cause analysis, corrective fixes, and verification using gdb and other development practices.
  • Specify and execute unit, functional, and system-level tests and participate in code, design, and customer reviews.
  • Develop component design documentation, break down complex tasks, propose solutions, and assess risks for critical fixes.
  • Coordinate software development activities with team leaders, peers, customers, and other HARMAN groups.
  • May direct the work of one or two other engineers and coordinate resources when required.
  • Travel occasionally for training or coordination and support project needs of up to 20% travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a relevant IT-connected specialization.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a software developer, including at least 3 years of C++ experience.
  • Expertise with Linux and experience developing embedded applications and working with embedded operating systems.
  • Knowledge of inter-process communication, multithreading, socket communication, and software development processes.
  • Preferred knowledge of asynchronous modem middleware programming, eSIM, VoLTE, 3GPP, call workflows, VoIP, and automotive systems.
  • Preferred experience with SOME/IP, CAPI, TCP, UDP, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G/4G connectivity, software updates, diagnostics, secure boot, and TEE.
  • Preferred knowledge of the Linux kernel, Unified Modeling Language, and automotive connectivity or telecommunication protocols.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills and willingness to travel up to 20%.
