Senior Staff, Software Engineer - Slack Front End Infrastructure

Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional frontend initiatives focused on performance, scalability, resiliency, and developer productivity.
- Design, maintain, and evolve Slack’s WebSocket infrastructure, boot process, Redux/React layers, logging, and alerting systems.
- Drive architectural decisions and establish frontend patterns used by multiple teams.
- Resolve cross-team communication and alignment challenges and represent frontend technical strategy at the organizational level.
- Mentor engineers and support technical education and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with JavaScript and TypeScript in large-scale applications.
- Deep familiarity with browser performance profiling and debugging tools.
- Proficiency with React, Redux, and modern web technologies, including the ability to explain architectural trade-offs.
- Experience authoring forward-looking code patterns on which multiple teams depend.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative and empathetic approach.
- A passion for mentorship, technical education, and knowledge sharing.
- A related technical degree is required.
- Preferred: expertise in React/Redux optimization, memory profiling, flame graph analysis, and production tuning.
- Preferred: experience leading large-scale migrations, upgrades, or frontend modernization initiatives.
- Preferred: familiarity with persistence layers, service workers, caching strategies, and offline functionality.
