Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain Rust services and crates for account creation, identity verification, and KYC/CIP decisioning.
- Build and test integrations with identity, fraud, and screening providers, including response modeling, deserialization, and fixture-based scenarios.
- Implement pure, table-tested determination logic with authoritative definitions for business rules.
- Design asynchronous task-based delivery with idempotency, retries, resumption semantics, and receipt-based completion gates.
- Ensure correct and secure handling of PII and identity documents through redaction, minimal projections, encryption, secret management, and audit logging.
- Represent market and product differences through policy and configuration to support new jurisdictions without refactoring.
- Operate production services using instrumentation, structured logging, alerting, and incident response.
- Design scalable and reliable service architecture using cloud infrastructure such as Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes.
- Lead Rust design reviews, broker technical contracts with external squads, and mentor engineers in Rust proficiency.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software development experience, including substantial production Rust.
- Strong production Rust skills, including ownership and lifetimes, error modeling, trait design, Tokio and the async ecosystem, Serde, and a SQL layer such as SQLx or Diesel.
- Experience writing highly testable Rust with pure functions, table-driven tests, fixture-based integration tests, and strict contract tests.
- Experience designing HTTP and event-driven service integrations with versioning and backward compatibility.
- Experience handling sensitive data with encryption, secret management, least-privilege access, and audit requirements in containerized cloud environments such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Demonstrated use of AI coding agents such as Codex, Cursor, and Claude Code, with the ability to review and validate AI-assisted code.
- Excellent communication and experience driving technical contracts across team boundaries with ownership of shipped systems.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with identity verification, KYC/AML, CIP, fraud, risk decisioning, fintech, trading, brokerage, crypto, or regulated financial services is a plus.
- Experience with large Rust monorepos, shared crates, workspace tooling, policy-driven flow engines, YAML or JSON workflows, gRPC, protobuf, or feature-flagging platforms such as Statsig is a plus.
Benefits
- Salary range is $140,000.00-$190,000.00 USD with a 12% annual target bonus.
- Chicago-based employees follow a hybrid schedule with in-office work Tuesday through Thursday and remote work Monday and Friday; exceptional candidates may have remote flexibility in listed states.
