Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend microservices using clean architecture and clearly separated domain, application, infrastructure, and API layers.
- Build and maintain REST and/or GraphQL APIs with consistent data contracts and request and response models.
- Implement event-driven integrations using message queues, publish/subscribe flows, webhooks, retry logic, and error handling.
- Design data models and persistence logic for NoSQL and relational databases, including query optimization.
- Implement JWT-based authentication and authorization with identity providers such as Keycloak.
- Write unit, integration, and BDD-style tests and maintain coverage as services evolve.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for building, testing, and deploying containerized services to cloud infrastructure such as AWS ECS.
- Participate in code reviews, uphold engineering standards, mentor less experienced developers, and resolve cross-service integration issues.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software development experience building backend services in C#/.NET, Java, or another modern object-oriented or statically typed language.
- Experience designing and building microservices with REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
- Strong understanding of clean architecture or comparable layered design patterns.
- Experience with NoSQL and/or relational databases, data modeling, schema design, and query optimization.
- Practical experience with event-driven architectures and message queues such as AWS SQS/SNS or equivalent services.
- Experience writing automated unit, integration, and/or BDD tests and integrating them into CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to work pragmatically in an agile team environment and prioritize work under sprint deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to flag blockers, gaps, and risks early.
- Experience with disciplined AI-assisted software development practices, specification-driven development, TDD, iterative refactoring, and structured use of AI coding tools.
- Preferred experience with ASP.NET Core, MediatR/CQRS, xUnit, Reqnroll/BDD, FluentValidation, AWS ECS/SQS/SNS, Docker, e-commerce or order management, Keycloak, Azure AD, and third-party webhook integrations.
