Responsibilities
- Run and improve the reliability, availability, performance, capacity, and cost of the data platform on Kubernetes.
- Define and track SLOs and improve monitoring and alerting using Prometheus and Grafana.
- Automate infrastructure with Terraform and Crossplane, GitOps with ArgoCD, and CI/CD with GitLab.
- Participate in on-call rotations, lead incidents, identify root causes, and write blameless postmortems.
- Work with data engineers and other data teams on production readiness, migrations, and tooling.
- Experiment with AI agents, MCP tools, and automated runbooks for operations.
Requirements
- Production experience running Kubernetes clusters and workloads.
- Experience with infrastructure as code and GitOps, including Terraform and ArgoCD or a similar tool.
- Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, SLOs, monitoring, and actionable alerting.
- Experience handling real incidents, finding root causes, and writing postmortems.
- Ability to code in Go or Python for automation and tooling.
- Solid Linux and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with GitLab CI or a similar CI/CD tool.
- Curiosity about applying AI assistants and AI-powered tools to platform operations.
- Professional written and spoken English.
- Nice-to-have experience with Kafka, Trino, Apache Iceberg, Apache Polaris, Ceph, S3, Postgres, Patroni, Crossplane, OPA, GCP, and FinOps practices.
