Base Salary
$155k - $244k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define the technical vision and multi-quarter roadmap for cloud infrastructure in alignment with engineering and business goals.
- Lead architecture and design for cross-team infrastructure initiatives through RFCs and design reviews.
- Build, operate, and evolve internal platform products across their full lifecycle.
- Deploy and manage cloud and container infrastructure hands-on using infrastructure as code.
- Own reliability for critical infrastructure by defining SLOs, leading complex incidents, and completing postmortem actions.
- Drive cloud cost efficiency and capacity planning across multiple cloud providers.
- Embed security, compliance, and policy as code into the platform.
- Apply AI and agent-based tooling to automate operations and improve developer experience.
- Mentor senior engineers, develop technical leaders, and establish standards for code, documentation, and operations.
- Partner with engineering leadership and product teams to influence direction without direct authority.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform, or SRE engineering, including Staff- or Principal-level scope.
- Demonstrated success leading large, cross-team infrastructure initiatives from ambiguous problem definition through production.
- Deep expertise in GCP or AWS and working knowledge of a second major cloud provider.
- Expert-level experience designing, scaling, upgrading, and troubleshooting production Kubernetes clusters, including GKE or EKS.
- Strong Terraform infrastructure-as-code experience, including module design and state management at scale.
- Strong software engineering skills in Go or Python with a maintained production codebase.
- Solid networking fundamentals covering VPC design, routing, DNS, load balancing, and service mesh technologies such as Istio.
- Experience building observability systems at scale with tools such as Datadog, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry.
- Experience with GitOps and CI/CD tools such as ArgoCD or Flux.
- Excellent written and spoken English and the ability to clearly explain complex tradeoffs in documents and asynchronous channels.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work experience.
- Preferred qualifications include AI/LLM platform infrastructure, agent-based automation, managed data services, secrets management, policy as code, measurable FinOps savings, and experience in globally distributed engineering organizations.
