Responsibilities

  • Program and develop industrial automation logic for production machinery.
  • Design, program, and validate machinery safety systems and safety circuits.
  • Perform machine checkout, factory acceptance testing, commissioning, start-up, and customer support.
  • Contribute to new technology development and R&D activities.
  • Support electrical design, control-systems integration, and engineering documentation.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, automation, and production-equipment systems.
  • Manage or contribute to project budgets and schedules.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of engineering methods and processes.
  • Travel internationally for commissioning, start-up, and customer installation activities for 3–6 weeks at a time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 4–10 years of relevant experience in industrial automation and control-systems engineering.
  • Hands-on experience programming, configuring, testing, and commissioning PLC and/or DCS systems.
  • Experience with industrial automation, machine-control systems, production equipment, industrial communication networks, and integrated control systems.
  • Experience with machinery safety concepts, safety circuits, Safety PLCs, and Pilz Safety PLC programming.
  • Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and strong industrial troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience with Valmet DNA and Siemens, Rockwell, ABB, or other leading PLC/DCS platforms.
  • Experience with PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, OPC UA, or similar industrial communication protocols.
  • Experience supporting commissioning and start-up activities at customer sites.
  • Fluent written and spoken English and the ability to work independently across international, cross-functional teams.
  • Preferred qualifications include Siemens Certified Programmer or TIA Portal training, Rockwell Automation certifications, TÜV Functional Safety credentials, Pilz CMSE certification, ABB Automation certifications, and PROFINET or EtherNet/IP networking certifications.
  • Experience in the process industry, particularly tissue or paper manufacturing, is highly advantageous.
