Responsibilities
- Design and implement high-throughput Python backend services and SQL pipelines for large volumes of financial market data.
- Translate regulatory mandates and market surveillance policies into control algorithms and automated surveillance components.
- Model trade lifecycles, order workflows, executions, and multi-asset risk analytics with trading, risk, and compliance stakeholders.
- Perform application profiling, database tuning, indexing, and SQL query optimization to improve latency and throughput.
- Develop Generative AI-assisted solutions and workflow automation for control testing and operational activities.
- Participate in architecture discussions, system design reviews, code reviews, testing, CI/CD practices, and knowledge sharing.
- Ensure deliverables follow engineering policies, enterprise security standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience building backend applications and data pipelines in Python.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, relational database design, query optimization, indexing strategies, and database performance profiling.
- Working knowledge of investment banking and capital markets, including trade and transaction lifecycles, order management, execution workflows, and market risk analytics.
- Experience developing and supporting scalable systems that handle sizable data volumes.
- Experience with Agile frameworks and GitHub and Jira for version control, branching, and collaborative development.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Bachelor’s or university degree, or equivalent professional experience; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Beneficial qualifications include exposure to regulatory reporting or market surveillance platforms, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, distributed computing, data streaming, Generative AI APIs, prompt engineering, or LLM-driven tooling.
