Responsibilities
- Design and implement high-performance services and APIs using C++, Python, Go, and other languages as needed.
- Build and evolve HTTP services and Web APIs serving thousands of internal engineers.
- Develop infrastructure with integrated diagnostic tooling across Bloomberg’s engineering ecosystem.
- Collaborate with engineering end-users to understand debugging workflows and translate them into product features.
- Drive architectural decisions that balance performance and usability at scale.
- Apply AI capabilities as a development tool and as a complementary product feature.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on integrations and shared tooling.
Requirements
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or demonstrated equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience developing high-quality, scalable applications in C++, Java, or Go, with the ability to learn new languages.
- Proficiency in system design and architecture and commitment to best-practice software development practices including automated testing and CI/CD.
- Experience or interest in collaborating across teams on integrations and shared tooling.
- Preferred experience with containerized environments, cgroups, and Linux namespaces.
- Preferred hands-on debugging experience with GDB, proc tools, and other Linux diagnostic utilities.
- Knowledge of the Linux process model, proc filesystem, binary analysis, and ELF internals is desirable.
- Experience with Unix IPC, secure network programming, and concurrent or parallel programming is desirable.
- Interest in intuitive developer workflows, user experiences, and the secure and effective use of AI.
