Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Java and Kotlin backend services with Spring Boot on AWS.
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs serving millions of customers across web and mobile platforms.
- Develop and optimize card pay-in services supporting approximately £1 billion in monthly customer transactions.
- Design database schemas and optimize SQL queries for high-volume PostgreSQL transactional data.
- Build and maintain Apache Kafka event-driven architectures for asynchronous financial-event processing.
- Develop and maintain payment orchestration systems that route payments across Payment Service Providers for cost and reliability optimization.
- Write unit, integration, and end-to-end automated tests for financial systems.
- Conduct code reviews and uphold code quality, security, and engineering standards.
- Participate in on-call rotations for Tier 2 critical services and respond to production incidents.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, analysts, and engineers on cross-functional projects.
- Resolve performance bottlenecks, scalability issues, and technical debt.
- Apply security best practices when handling sensitive financial data and meeting financial regulations.
