Responsibilities
- Design and build backend services powering Operator.
- Develop scalable retrieval systems connecting engineering knowledge across product surfaces.
- Build APIs and services for AI-powered platform experiences.
- Improve search quality, data pipelines, knowledge retrieval performance, reliability, observability, and backend performance.
- Expand Operator with intelligent reporting, dashboards, and engineering insights.
- Design systems organizing company knowledge across business units, engineering domains, and manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with AI, Product, Design, and Engineering teams on customer-facing capabilities.
- Mentor teammates through architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical leadership.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building production backend software.
- Strong experience with Python and modern backend development.
- Experience building APIs, distributed systems, and cloud-native applications.
- Strong understanding of databases, system architecture, and scalable backend design.
- Experience working with structured and unstructured data.
- Ability to make architectural decisions in evolving product environments.
- Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical teammates.
- Bonus experience includes AI-powered applications or LLM workflows, retrieval systems, semantic search, RAG architectures, vector databases, search infrastructure, embeddings, ranking, information retrieval, event-driven architectures, and enterprise SaaS platforms; TurboPuffer experience is a plus.
