Senior Back End Engineer - Customer Operations Platform

Responsibilities

  • Own complex projects end to end, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, and production support.
  • Lead projects spanning multiple systems and stakeholders, including CRM, telephony, contact management, and task management.
  • Build shared backend services and act as a trusted reviewer for contributions from other engineering teams.
  • Scope and prototype technical solutions before they reach the roadmap.
  • Design and solve complex coding and architecture problems in distributed systems.
  • Translate product requirements and operational needs into technical documents, architecture, and actionable developer tickets.
  • Collaborate with Operations Strategy, Credit Analysts, Account Managers, and Collections teams.
  • Help migrate business logic from the Django monolith into smaller independently deployable services.
  • Build AI-enabled operational tools and an in-house inbox messaging solution.
  • Mentor junior developers and share technologies and best practices across the company.

Requirements

  • Experience developing and owning shared backend services that other engineering teams depend on.
  • Experience building and shaping distributed systems in complex business domains.
  • Ability to translate complex operational needs into technical architecture.
  • Familiarity with React, TypeScript, and browser debugging.
  • Strong capability using AI tools to automate routine tasks and research.
  • Daily experience using AI tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or similar.
  • Commercial experience with Python frameworks such as Django is a bonus.
  • Experience with complex data architectures, including event-sourced data models, is a bonus.
