Responsibilities
- Build aesthetically pleasing, user-friendly interfaces for borrowers in partnership with Product and UX.
- Design, develop, deploy, and operate robust, scalable software across front-end and back-end systems.
- Own major system areas and take responsibility for planning, design, coding, deployment, debugging, monitoring, and ongoing production support.
- Drive engineering planning, resource allocation, delivery rhythm, and development processes.
- Design and evolve HTTP APIs, data contracts, distributed systems, and resilient asynchronous workflows.
- Build and operate AWS services, including containerised workloads, networking, observability, and CI-driven deployments.
- Contribute to a greenfield domain-services migration, including application architecture modernisation and database migration.
- Integrate with third-party APIs, vendors, partner platforms, lenders, and other consumers.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues across multiple services using logs, metrics, and traces.
Requirements
- Proficiency in TypeScript with solid experience in Node.js back-end services and modern React front ends.
- Experience with document databases, ideally MongoDB, including schema design, indexing, performance, and change-stream or event patterns.
- Strong experience building and operating services on AWS, including containerised workloads, networking, observability, and CI-driven deployments.
- Understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures such as Kafka, including resilient asynchronous workflows.
- Experience designing, building, and evolving HTTP APIs and data contracts with backwards-compatible changes.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, automated testing, trunk-based development, and feature-flagged releases.
- Experience integrating third-party APIs, vendors, and partner platforms, including technical due diligence and troubleshooting.
- Ability to resolve complex production issues across multiple services and integrations using logs, metrics, and traces.
- Experience with a secondary language such as Kotlin and the ability to learn new stacks and tools quickly.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for explaining technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
